From Hamburg to Szczecin you can go easy and cheap by train with the "Mecklenburg- Vorpommern-Ticket". It costs 25 € (if you buy it on a ticket machine, or 27 € if you buy it at the ticket office; Please note that you cannot buy this ticket on the train!) and is valid for 5 Persons. The ticket is a day-pass (from 9am on a weekday, resp. from midnight on weekends) for local trains (i.e. RE and RB) in the north-eastern county of Germany (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), but it is also valid on the local trains from Hamburg to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to Szczecin. Below the timetable until 13/DEC/2008, these trains shall run daily, but better check again at German Railways.

Would work the same way, but I'm not sure if you can buy the "Mecklenburg-Vorpommern-Ticket" at a ticket-office in Szczecin. I will try it the next time when I'm travelling there. If you cannot buy the ticket in Szczecin, your only cheap chance is to buy a regular ticket to the first station in Germany, which is Grambow, leave the train, buy a ticket at the ticket machine, and take the next train about two hours later. Remember you cannot buy this ticket on the train!
